We inquired into the season Autumn. We learnt about what happened in our environment and used our learning experiences to create realistic patterned Autumn leaves using ink.

We created a collaborative piece that was inspired by the dreamtime story ‘The Rainbow Serpent’, which we read in French and in English. We inquired into colour by mixing paint to create new colour variations. We combined our knowledge of colour, shape and line to produce a jigsaw piece of the serpent.

Next we will be further exploring colour and how it can be used to express ourselves.

We developed our fine motor skills when cutting shapes to create a jigsaw puzzle. We explored the various shapes and lines within the puzzle.

We have continued to develop our fine motor skills in cutting and gluing to create an abstract self-portrait. We inquired into a variety of shapes and how they can be sorted to create a face. Next we will be inquiring into how lines can be used in our art making.

In French we learnt how to introduce ourselves as well as the names of shapes. For example, we learnt that ‘circle’ is ‘cercle’ and ‘square’ is ‘carre.’ We will continue to practise to the PYP Attitude: Confidence (confiance en so) when speaking French.
